Charlie Sheen Says He is Back and Better Than Ever After Being ‘Possessed’ For Many Years
Charlie Sheen has seen his fair share of bad headlines about himself. Now, he said that he is sober and working on improving himself and mending relationships from the past. While he has been trying to stay out of the spotlight for the last six years or so to focus on his family and sobriety, Sheen is now ready to get back to work.
The 58-year-old appears in two episodes of Chuck Lorre‘s new show Bookie. He plays himself in the sports gambling dramedy, led by Sebastian Maniscalco. This was a big deal because Lorre previously fired Sheen from his show Two and a Half Men in 2011 for his bizarre behavior. After, Sheen slammed Lorre in several interviews. Sheen was surprised when Lorre reached out to him and wanted to patch things up and work together again.
He explained, “Chuck reached out he said, ‘Hey, it’s time to bury the hatchet. It’s time for us to give each other a hug. And remember the great stuff that we did together.’ Because we made a lot of people happy for a long time, and we left some really solid work behind us.” Sheen added that it was only because he got sober after battling “demons” and “possession,” as he calls his journey with drugs and alcohol, that he was able to get to a better place in both his work and personal life.
Sheen said that he is ready to work steadily again and shared, “For the longest time, I had the best work reputation. I was the first to arrive, last to leave, when in doubt I’d over prepare. I would just check every fricking box. And that went away. So I was really excited about being that guy again.”
Watch Bookie on the streaming service Max. New episodes are airing on Thursdays.
