New David Bowie Ziggy-Stardust Era Album Being Released For Record Store Day 2024
David Bowie was responsible for some iconic music including “Space Oddity,” Starman,” “Changes,” and many more. He sadly passed away on January 10, 2016, and his final album titled Blackstar was released just two days before he succumbed to a private battle with cancer. He had been working on a lot of music before his death and his estate has released several songs posthumously. Now, a new album is coming this spring called Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth).
Bowie’s estate and his record label Parlophone announced the new album which will be released on Record Store Day (April 20, 2024). Record Store Day comes around each year and helps keep record stores around as labels will release special items for such stores.

The album will feature four songs that didn’t make it on the album The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars. Many of the songs on the album were released as B-sides or deluxe versions so superfans may recognize all of the songs but other listeners will be delighted at the seemingly new additions to their collection. Many of these songs were originally recorded in the 1970s, including “Round and Round,” a Chuck Berry cover.
The album not only celebrates Record Store Day but was announced on what would have been his 77th birthday on January 8. The last time his estate released a posthumous record was in 2021 with Toy. The album featured some reworkings of his hit songs as well as a few unreleased tracks. If you have a record store near you, be sure to put your name on a list to secure your copy! No word yet if it will be available to purchase online. As of now, you can purchase his past albums on Bowie’s website.
