Ryan Gosling & Lee Majors Became Fast Friends Filming ‘The Fall Guy’ Remake
Ryan Gosling is stepping into the role of Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy remake, made famous by Lee Majors. Majors is set to make a cameo in the new film as an homage to the 1980s series. While preparing for the role, Gosling said that he was able to chat with Majors and that they hit it off quite quickly.
Gosling shared, “He came out to Australia and I had an opportunity to talk to him and spend the day with him. It was pretty great.” He revealed that they still text and added, “He’s so funny and he’s very lovely and gracious.” The new film is set to premiere on May 3, 2024 (it was previously set for March 1, but was delayed due to the strikes).
In the film, Gosling plays Seavers who films a science-fiction Western after his ex Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt) asks him to step in after the original leading actor disappears. For fans of the original, they will be pleased to hear that the show’s iconic theme song “The Unknown Stuntman,” will be featured in the movie. While Majors sang the theme song for the show, Gosling confirmed that he did not sing the theme song despite his musical abilities. Reportedly, country star Blake Shelton will sing the song.
David Leitch directed the movie and the concept is very close to his heart as a former stuntman for big stars. He was the stuntman for Brad Pitt in Fight Club as well as Matt Damon in The Bourne Ultimatum. Now, as a director in the film, he said that the crew “explored doing old-school high falls into airbags, and jumping a car as far as we could, and rolling a car as many times as we could.”
Leitch was thrilled to have Gosling sign on as the main character as he said he has “done action, he’s done romance, he’s done comedy, but this movie allowed him to do all of it.” Are you excited about The Fall Guy coming to theaters this spring?
