Richard Simmons Shuts Down Announcements of a Biopic Starring Pauly Shore
Fitness guru Richard Simmons is determined to stay out of the spotlight these days and does not seem interested in a biopic about his life. Just hours after actor Pauly Shore seemingly confirmed that he was starring as Simmons in an upcoming biopic, Simmons clapped back and said that he has not given permission. Even if a movie is in the works, Simmons clarified that he is not involved with it in any way.
Simmons said on Facebook, “Hi Everybody! You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read. I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support. Richard.”
Shore and the company The Wolper Organization confirmed that they were going ahead with a biopic about Simmons this morning. A while ago, a viral meme showing how similar Shore and Simmons look got the attention of Shore. In September, he wrote on Facebook, “I’ve noticed all the reactions to me playing Richard Simmons in a new biopic. I heard he’s living deep in Big Bear. We’ve been playing phone tag (yes, he still has a phone). I’m trying to make it happen for you guys. Be optimistic.”
Stay tuned to learn more about the future of the biopic. If Simmons does not want to be involved he may use legal action to stop the project from happening while he is alive or even beyond. Additionally, Shore posted a video on his YouTube page explaining why he wants to do the movie, how he already portrayed Simmons in a short movie going to Sundance called The Court Jester, and how he has nothing but love for Simmons.
