‘Friday Night Videos’ Helped a Lot of MTV-Less Early ’80s Music Fans

“For many of you, Friday Night Videos will be your first experience with music video” said a narrator during an intro to an early episode of NBC’s series. And it was true. For early ’80s music fans without MTV or cable television altogether, FNV filled a big void.
